The concept of self motivation has been studied for hundreds of years and maybe thousands, people are fascinated in why and how to achieve success. Why some people achieve great things and others dont even if they have the same abilities and are born in the same circumstances.
Self motivation can be seen as what drives people to achieve anything they want despite many failures, while others get discouraged very easily even when they have the same capabilities.
Many studies and experiments have been done on the concept of self motivation, some experts have said that people attribute certain character traits to people and thus they limit themselves to what they think they are capable of doing.
Society usually think that there are certain abilities that one is born with, so when you keep hearing that, you think that you are not capable of doing certain things so you stop trying. The reality is that this causes to types of mindset in people, fixed mindset and growth mindset.
A person with a fixed mindset thing that they have certain abilities and thus that is what they can do well so they dont ker about learning from their mistakes, they just want to do what they do well. On the other hand people with a growth mindset, think that they can develop they abilities and thus they learn from they mistakes and when they fail they keep trying because they are learning in the process and they like it.
So we can say that people that believe that they can develop their abilities and achieve more despite of failure get more motivated with the challenge, because they know they are learning and moving toward their goals. While people that think that they are just born with certain abilities, get discouraged and unmotivated when they try knew things that they are not good at.
What happens is that even people with great abilities that think that they cant develop new or improve the abilities never do or achieve what they are really capable of, while people who believe that they can achieve anything that they practice, accomplish more difficult goals.
