Motivation is the driving force that make us do whatever we have to do to get where we want to be. Being motivated is what make us wake up every morning, is what make us do incredible things to achieve, is what makes humanity invent so many things that make us grow as a civilization.
A Team or person that has no motivation, can easily loss focus, get sidetracked and even get depression. Having motivation will boost your will power and see your goal so clear that achieve it no matter what.
Motivation can be used in many areas of life at work, in school, in sports are much more. One key area where motivation is essential is in a team. It doesnt matter what area is, it could be a work team or sports team, etc.
Team motivation is very important when you want to achieve a common goal and be as effective and productive as you want to be. A team that is not motivated is not going to produce 10% of the results that a motivated team can do
Before you start a team project or a team game you need to get together with your team and make some things very clear. First you need to have a common goal, in a enterprise a mission and vision can increase the team motivation if they feel part of it.
In a sports team you need to talk with the players and tell them why they are here, what they want to accomplish and what are the capabilities, you have to touch their deepest desires, money is not enough motivator, it has to been something more profound and really deep.
If you can get your team to agree with your mission and you all have a common objective then thats a good start for their motivation. Then everyone needs to have a specific task and goal to achieve and everyone needs to have a deadline to achieve the task. Also is important to have a deadline to achieve the team goal and try to break records that will really motivate them.
One other very important thing to keep a team motivated is to reward them or tell them how they are doing it. If they did or accomplished a specific goal on a deadline reward them, it can be something simple or a diner or a day off, whatever but make them feel that their achievement is recognized.
